The goal of
Better Classroom Guidebooks is to develop and publish crossword puzzles and study guides that will:
-
free up teacher preparation
time,
-
Improve student comprehension
of their
textbooks, and
-
foster interest in Canadian history.
Our study guides can be used:
-
as guided reading assignments
of the Horizons and Counterpoints textbooks in
preparation for teacher designed activities;
-
in any classroom as “make up”
assignments for students who experience extended absences;
-
in
multi-grade classrooms where teachers must present several
different social studies courses; and,
-
in classrooms where students
enter and exit a program at varied times and require self-paced
study materials.
Better Classroom Guidebooks'
textbook-based crossword puzzles require
your students to the reflect upon the vocabulary and
content of each chapter in their
textbook. We also publish a variety of
history-based crossword puzzles that make use of fact
sheets. All of our puzzles can be used in any setting:

to help your students focus their
attention when
reading sections of the textbook, or
-
to present the textbook's vocabulary
and content, or
-
as sponge activities when students
are finished other classroom activities.
