Crossword Puzzles for the British Columbia: 150 Years Calendar

Historica Foundation of Canada in partnership with London Drugs and the Canadian National Railway developed a 2008 Calendar that presents a day-by-day account of events in BC’s history.  This calendar was circulated to schools around BC as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of British Columbia’s founding in 1858.

Better Classroom Guidebooks has used the information in the Historica Foundation's calendar to create a series of crossword puzzles that teachers can use in conjunction with the calendar.   For the convenience of the students and teachers who may not have direct access to the 2008 Historica calendar and its collection of facts, BC Guidebooks has recorded the facts for each month and included them with each month’s crossword as a reference for the crossword users.  Like all of Better Classroom Guidebooks' teaching resources, this collection of crossword puzzles is distributed on DVD in .pdf format.  They can be viewed and printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The BC 150 Years collection of crossword puzzles contains the following components:

  • A fact sheet that provides your students with the information required to complete each crossword.

  • An answer key for each puzzle.

Click here to download the puzzles for September and October.  You are welcome to try them out with your students.
